Natura Naturans, Natura Naturata at ART DUBAI 2026
Dubai-based RARARES Art Gallery debuts at Art Dubai with Natura Naturans, Natura Naturata, inspired by 17th-century philosopher Baruch Spinoza. The exhibition features an installation by acclaimed UAE artist and cultural ambassador Fatma Lootah, whose experimental practice remains rooted in Arabic heritage.
Translated as “nature in the act of creating” and “nature as created,” the title frames an inquiry into being and becoming, positioning nature as a dynamic, generative force. Kinetic light installations by Taiwanese collective WHYIXD engage in dialogue with Lootah’s mixed-media sound work Breathing Earth, evoking the shifting balance between natural and constructed worlds.
Metal and polymer wood panels by South Korean artist Chunkook Lee extend this dialogue, merging anatomy, plant life, and technology to rethink contemporary ornamentation as a living, adaptive form. Growth and erosion, construction and collapse emerge as parallel acts of making. Seeing becomes an active connection—situating viewers within evolving ecologies and inviting new ways of living together.
