RARARES Gallery at VOLTA Basel 2025 present Sensory Tapestry: А Cabinet of Folded Memories
In its debut show at VOLTA Basel 2025, RARARES Gallery presents a new group exhibition «Sensory Tapestry - А Cabinet of Folded Memories»—a curated environment that reimagines the historical Wunderkammer as a space of poetic tension, speculative materiality, and embodied narratives. This project marks a significant milestone for the gallery, introducing a transnational constellation of artists whose practices challenge how we see, feel, and remember in the contemporary world.
Guided by a belief in the power of artistic originality, the RARARES booth is conceived as a sensorial journey rather than a linear display—an unfolding space where visitors are invited to pause, interact, and immerse themselves in creative dialogues that cut across boundaries. Booth B4 is designed as a non-linear landscape—and unfolds each work a portal into a different mode of sense-making and new forms of artistic cognitions.
Under the thoughtful curation of RARARES Gallery founder Marina Baisel, selected emerging artists developed new bodies of work for their debut showcase in Basel, collectively celebrating the diversity and beauty of contemporary artistic practices. Stand B4 unites Masarati’s mythical figuration and ceramic abstract expressionism; Sara Alkhayyal’s UAE-inspired installations bridging generational narratives with contemporary artistry; Maria Koshenkova’s alchemical explorations in glass serving as a vessel of cultural tension; Together, these artists propose a counter-archive of wonder: where gentleness asserts its legacy, memory becomes tactile, and the body—fragmented or mythologized—emerges as the central axis of artistic inquiry.
In line with its mission to champion rare talent beyond regional and cultural boundaries, the Dubai-based gallery presents a compelling mix of international artists in Basel.
